The Los Angeles Lakers had a disappointing 2022-23 season, finishing 7th in the NBA Western Conference with a record of 43-39. The team failed to meet expectations after acquiring superstar Russell Westbrook in the offseason and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Phoenix Suns.
One of the main reasons for the Lakers' struggles was Westbrook's inconsistent play. The veteran guard averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, but he often struggled to shoot the ball efficiently and his turnovers were a major problem.
Another factor in the Lakers' struggles was the team's lack of depth. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were both injured for significant portions of the season, and the Lakers did not have enough quality players to fill in for them.
The Lakers will need to make some significant changes in the offseason if they want to contend for a championship next season. They will need to find a way to get more consistent play from Westbrook and they will need to add some depth to their roster.
