Chelsea Elizabeth Manning (formerly Bradley Edward Manning) was born on December 17, 1987, in Crescent, Oklahoma. She is a former United States Army intelligence analyst known for her role in disclosing classified information to WikiLeaks.
Whistleblower Activity
In 2010, while deployed in Iraq, Manning leaked hundreds of thousands of military and diplomatic records to WikiLeaks. This included the Iraq and Afghanistan war logs, diplomatic cables, and other sensitive documents.
Espionage Charges and Imprisonment
Manning's actions led to her arrest in 2010 and her eventual conviction in 2013 on espionage and other charges. She was sentenced to 35 years in military prison.
